This "event" is partly an FYI for the LGBTQ community around North Central MA about an LGBT event. If anyone is interested in joining Josiah at any of these events, please RSVP. Otherwise I will assume no one from this group will be there, and I might find other plans. There's usually a good crowd that shoes up for these events, so even if I cannot make it, you're sure to meet new people.
• Fri, Jun 20, 7pm - Screening of Were the World Mine, set at a boys' private high school. The film is centered on a performance of William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, including original music and Shakespearean language as it tells the story of a “townie” who is taunted by his schoolmates. The handsome main character has much inner strength and wins the day with the help of a magic potion.
• Fri, Jun 27, 7pm - Screening of Chely Wright: Wish Me Away, a documentary about the first Nashville country music star to come out as gay. Over 3 years, the filmmakers were given extraordinary access to Wright’s struggle and her unfolding plan to come out. The film reveals both the devastation of homophobia and the transformational power of living an authentic life – the basic message of gay pride.
After each movie, those attending are encouraged to participate in a discussion. Detailed information about the events is on Bruce's Browser's web site, www.brucesbrowser.com. The program’s organizers, Browser owner Diane Lincoln and local author Allen Young, both of Royalston, welcome everyone, gay and straight!
